G. Farrell and set in British ruled Singapore during the early 1940s. Wealthy rubber merchants Walter Blackett (David Morrissey) and Mr. Webb (Charles Dance) look to restructure their business during a time of increased conflict with Japanese forces. Mr. Webb's son Matthew (Luke Treadaway) travels from Britain to Singapore and proves himself a more worthy candidate to take over the business than Walter's son Monty (Luke Newberry), who leads a lavish and reckles.
